Nonprofit Video Production for UNICEF's
Benefactor Campaign - Sofia, Bulgaria

Nonprofit Video Production Overview

NoBrainer Studio provided nonprofit video production for UNICEF’s 2020 benefactor recruitment campaign, working under the banner of United Partners to create a series of video promos designed to move viewers and drive new monthly donations. The creative concept centered on a simple, powerful question posed to three children: how do you picture an angel? Through their innocent, imaginative answers, the films reveal that real-life angels are the donors who provide essential care and support to children in need. Each child’s answer was different, from wings and halos to something closer to a nurse or a neighbor, and we structured the edit so those small, unscripted surprises carried the emotional weight rather than any voiceover explaining the message.

This project sits at the heart of what we love most about this kind of work: turning a serious, sensitive cause into something warm and human enough that people feel compelled to act. UNICEF needed films that could hold a viewer’s attention on social media within seconds, without ever feeling manipulative or overly sentimental. That meant every shot, cut, and line of dialogue had to earn its place in a promo running well under a minute.

Our Approach to Nonprofit Video Production for a Sensitive Subject

Our role involved filming candid interviews with children and blending that footage with authentic scenes of healthcare professionals and volunteers in action. This mix of unscripted testimony and real fieldwork is a technique we return to often in nonprofit video production, because it lets the story tell itself rather than relying on a narrator to explain why the cause matters. Filming children on a sensitive topic also meant working closely with UNICEF’s own guidelines on consent, tone, and language throughout the shoot, from how questions were phrased on camera to how much of each child’s home environment appeared in frame. We kept the crew small and the setting relaxed, so the children were talking to a friendly adult rather than performing for a camera, which made a real difference in how natural their answers felt on screen once we got into the edit.

We layered in vibrant on-screen graphics and a gentle, uplifting soundtrack to mirror the children’s sense of wonder and the hope that UNICEF’s programs provide. Every editing choice was made to keep the tone hopeful rather than heavy, which is often the hardest balance to strike when the subject involves vulnerable children and the ask is a recurring financial commitment from a stranger scrolling their phone.

Nonprofit Video Production Outcome for UNICEF

The finished videos were distributed across UNICEF’s social media platforms to inspire new supporters to join the Benefactor program as monthly donors. The campaign shows what nonprofit video production can do when a studio is trusted to handle sensitive subject matter with genuine emotional storytelling instead of stock imagery and generic appeals.

It was an honor to contribute to a campaign that directly supports the well-being of children worldwide, and to help UNICEF turn a difficult ask, recruiting recurring donors, into a story people wanted to be part of rather than an appeal they scrolled past. The project remains one of the clearest examples in our portfolio of how a short, well-crafted video can carry the weight of a cause without ever feeling like a plea.
